German Zoo Expert Collaborates with Uzbekistan on Nature Conservation

German zoo management expert, Professor Udo Nagel, met with Uzbekistan's Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, Aziz Abduhakimov, to discuss proposals for the development of zoos and nature reserves in Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, Minister Aziz Abduhakimov highlighted the recent large-scale initiatives focused on ecology, environmental protection, and animal welfare in Uzbekistan.

Professor Udo Nagel presented recommendations for the improvement of zoos and nature reserves, which included creating a barrier-free environment for animals with close proximity in winter and summer buildings. He suggested using strong glass materials instead of fences and planting coniferous plants along the animal enclosures. The concept of an exhibition with a "yesterday and today" theme for the zoo and educational attractions to teach practical biology knowledge were also discussed.

Aziz Abduhakimov emphasized the importance of studying the successful experience of the "Rostock" zoo in Germany. Both parties agreed on exchanging expertise between Uzbekistan and Germany.

The main purpose of the meeting was to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation in zoos, provide technical assistance for joint projects, and improve the expertise of specialists in this field through experience sharing.

Professor Udo Nagel visited various zoos and nature reserves in Uzbekistan, including those in Tashkent, Fergana, Termez, Samarkand's "Zarafshan" National Nature Park, and Bukhara's "Jayron" kennel, during his stay from July 10.

The meeting marks a significant step towards fostering collaboration and implementing progressive changes in Uzbekistan's zoos and nature reserves.
