Ministry of Energy and Huawei discuss development of renewable energy sector

Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamahmudov and Mr. Yao Jing, Vice President of Huawei Digital Power for Middle East and Central Asia. Parties discussed further cooperation in the development of green energy under the agreements reached during the Minister's visit to the Huawei headquarters in Shenzhen, China.

The parties discussed further development of the renewable energy sector in Uzbekistan by introducing digital technologies for solar installations of different types, from private households, public institutions and social facilities to large-scale solar power plants.

Particular attention was paid to the possibility of localising the production of inverters for solar installations and chargers for electric cars in Uzbekistan, establishing partnerships with representatives of leading countries that have succeeded in implementing solar solutions, and joint training in this direction.

Mr. Yao Jing deeply appreciated and expressed his support for the measures taken as part of Uzbekistan's green development strategy. "The country's leadership has outlined plans to increase and rapidly increase the energy system's capacity through the implementation of renewable energy projects to provide clean and affordable energy to the population and achieve carbon neutrality in the future. Uzbekistan has already implemented several major projects on the launch of solar power plants, which for the second year have shown good results. For our part, we will try, based on our values, to fully contribute to the further strengthening of the country's energy system and the implementation of the green strategy," said Yao Jing.

The Minister of Energy also noted his visit to the company's "showroom" and inverter and battery manufacturing facilities at Huawei Digital Power's factory in China.

Huawei Digital Power focuses on clean power generation, transportation electrification, and building green ICT infrastructure. By the end of 2022, Huawei has helped its customers generate more than 695.1 billion kWh of green energy and reduce energy consumption by 19.5 billion kWh, equivalent to preventing nearly 340 million tons of CO2 emissions.
