Uzbekistan criminalizes selling driver's licenses
Selling a driver's license is being considered as a distinct crime in Uzbekistan. This prompted the Senate Defense and Security Committee to review amendments to various traffic codes.
According to the proposed changes, specific offenses may be categorized under the Criminal Code:
1. Repeatedly driving under the influence of alcohol could lead to sanctions such as deprivation of certain rights for up to 3 years, correctional work or imprisonment for 2 to 3 years.
2. Violations related to the training and retraining of drivers, along with the conduct of examinations and issuance of driver's licenses, may result in criminal charges.
3. Driving a vehicle by a person stripped of the right to drive is also a punishable offense.
4. Breaches of safety rules for vehicles using compressed natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, or a mixture of diesel and gaseous fuels will be covered.
Additionally, administrative responsibility will be imposed for actions like "aggressive driving," "drift," "chess" movement, and other road-related obstructions.
