A new TV series titled "Olympiad" was shot in Uzbekistan, depicting the preparation and organization of the XXII Summer Olympic Games in the late 1970s and 1980s. The series are set to premiere in 2024 on the Kinopoisk streaming platform.

Filming occurred in Tashkent and its surroundings, showcasing iconic locations such as the city's streets, Chorsu bazaar, Abdul Kasim Eshon madrasa in the "Friendship of Peoples" park, and other architectural sites.

The main characters, Igor and Irina, visit Uzbekistan to inspect the uniforms for national teams and employees participating in the upcoming games. A dress show for athletes, judges, organizers, and staff is organized at a sewing factory. Actor Grigory Vernik, comparing his character to Ostap Bender, highlights the need for paradoxical solutions amid challenges in preparing for the 1980 Olympics, including potential boycotts by some countries.

Actress Maria Karpova describes her character as realistic and uncompromising, expressing genuine love for her job and a strong desire for the success of the Olympics. Drawing inspiration from the book "Soviet Daily Life" by cultural critic Natalya Lebina, Karpova delves into the era's significance, citing terms like "sausage train," "bust of Lenin," "party ticket," and "sport."

The series, directed by Yevgeny Stichkin with Alexander Remizov as the showrunner, is set to premiere in 2024. Remizov, known for his work on the dramas "Patient Zero" and "Monastery," which were season hits and broke audience records, brings his expertise to "Olympiad."
