Uzbek government provides free cancer treatment and screenings for women
Women with cancer will now receive free treatment, and those aged 30-65 will have a primary examination every two years. The budget will cover the costs of diagnosing and treating cancer patients. Additionally, women will undergo annual screenings for cervical cancer under a new presidential decree.
Starting January 1, 2025, oncology control rooms will include X-ray lab technicians to support mobile and stationary mammographs operating in two shifts. A mammography image reading center and a reference laboratory for quality control of test systems used in human papillomavirus diagnostics will be established. Non-governmental medical organizations will participate in screening for cervical and breast cancer. By May 1, 2025, a system will be implemented to monitor and assess the quality of cervical cancer screening, improve early detection of breast cancer, and follow up with women in the screening program.
