Uzbekistan and Peking University Explore Educational Collaboration
During his trip to China on January 21, First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation Komiljon Karimov met with Chairman of Peking University Council Hao Ping. The main focus of their discussion was on strengthening and expanding cooperation with Peking University, one of the oldest and top 20 higher education institutions globally.
Karimov highlighted the positive outcomes of reforms in Uzbekistan over the last six years, leading to more than 30 branches of foreign higher education institutions in the country. He proposed the idea of opening a branch of Peking University in Uzbekistan.
In response, Hao Ping mentioned that Peking University currently doesn't have any branches abroad but expressed openness to the idea. He suggested establishing the Uzbekistan-China International Central Asian Mathematics Center and the Uzbekistan-China engineering school to contribute to the development of both countries' economies.
Karimov approved these proposals and suggested the creation of Uzbek language center at Peking University. He expressed readiness to involve Uzbek philologists and educators to provide support to the center.
Both parties were pleased with the agreement to develop cooperation and affirmed their commitment to jointly implement mutually beneficial projects.
