Uzbekistan Boosts Gasoline Supply with Imports
Uzbekistan plans to import over 370,000 tons of gasoline by the end of 2023, according to the Ministry of Energy. The country aims to address gasoline demand by increasing domestic production and importing fuel. Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov stated that there is no shortage of gasoline, but measures are taken against gas stations manipulating fuel prices.
The situation was affected by a temporary restriction on gasoline exports imposed by the Russian government, but an agreement during the president's visit to Moscow ensures uninterrupted gasoline exports. Uzbekistan has already produced 1.16 million tons of motor gasoline, with production expected to reach 1.329 million tons by year-end.
The country plans to import 371,000 tons of gasoline, including 100,000 tons from Uzbekneftegaz and 270,000 tons from the private sector. The Russian government recently lifted export restrictions on motor gasoline, but there is a possibility of reinstating restrictions if deemed necessary, according to the Russian Ministry of Energy.
