Uzbekistan boosts tram and trolleybus efficiency
The Cabinet of Ministers in Uzbekistan has approved measures to enhance the efficiency of tram and trolleybus transportation. Until June 1, 2024, Samarkand and Khorezm regions will introduce tariffs for electronic payments in tram and trolleybus.
The Ministry of Transport, in partnership with Tashkent State Transport University, will create educational programs for training qualified personnel and drivers, focusing on maintenance and current repair of tram and trolleybus transport. Additionally, the Ministry will organize courses to enhance staff qualifications.
Within a month, the Ministry of Transport will establish a unit responsible for "green transport," encompassing tram and trolleybus, as part of the state unit in the central office of the ministry.
To advance electric transport, the Ministry has been assigned the following tasks:
1. Develop a network of new routes that are convenient for the population, aiming to increase the share of electric transport in public transportation.
2. Create programs for the development of electric transport infrastructure in public transportation.
3. Participate in regulating tariff policies, rates, and charges in electric transport.
