Uzbekistan imposes ban in fishing
In Uzbekistan, fishing in natural water bodies is temporarily banned to protect fish populations during the spawning season. The restrictions are enforced under the Law “On Hunting and Hunting Management” and the government resolution on fishing regulations.
From March 11 to May 31, fishing is prohibited in the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers. From April 26 to June 10, the ban applies to natural water bodies in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region. In all other natural water bodies, fishing is restricted from April 16 to May 31.
These measures aim to prevent the decline of fish populations during spawning. The ban does not affect intensive fish farming and aquaculture in artificial water bodies and irrigation systems, nor fish farming in cage farms.
Violating these regulations will lead to administrative and criminal liability.
