Uzbekistan intends to open tourist season

Uzbekistan has seen a decline in the number of new infection cases of Covid-19 in recent weeks. The government is now planning to restore the economic activity of industries and the necessary infrastructure.

According to the Tourism Committee, this also relates to the tourism sphere. "In order to study the availability of sanitary conditions at tourist service facilities and check their readiness for safe operation, a task force has been created on behalf of the Cabinet of Ministers, comprised of representatives of the State Committee for Tourism Development, as well as representatives of various ministries, departments, public organizations and NGOs," the Committee said.

The task force has recently inspected the state of hotels, transport infrastructure, including central bus stations, the international airport and the central railway station.

The inspection has revealed some shortcomings in ensuring the safe operation of these facilities. Experts and specialists of the task force gave instructions, explanations and recommendations on how to eliminate them and establish work on the accelerated development of standards of sanitary safety requirements for various types of facilities.

Moreover, negotiations are expected with the largest suppliers of hygiene and sanitary treatment products, developers of protocols and criteria for processing premises at different levels.

The aim is to study the possibility of implementing international protocols on hygiene and sanitary treatment, as well as to study the possibility of supplying appropriate equipment and disinfectants, modern technological equipment at all stages of the route of tourists.

Work is also underway to prepare the necessary documents for the implementation of tourism safety standards in Uzbekistan, including mechanisms for certification of sanitary safety at tourism facilities.
