Uzbekistan's “Yashil Makon” wins at Green Eurasia Climate Competition
Uzbekistan's national project “Yashil Makon” won in the “Agriculture and Forestry in the New Climate” category at the second international climate competition, "Green Eurasia," held in Yerevan.
Two projects from the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change were recognized among the winners: the “Yashil Makon” project and the “Green University” project, which won in the “Climate Education and Awareness” category.
The “Yashil Makon” initiative, focused on increasing Uzbekistan’s green areas over the past five years, impressed the selection committee. As part of the project, 200 million trees and shrubs are planted annually, aiming to increase urban green spaces by 30%.
During the event, Bakhitzhan Sagintayev, head of the Eurasian Economic Commission, congratulated the winners through a video message. “Yashil Makon” was launched by Uzbekistan’s president and has become a well-established national tradition.
