Tashkent hosts its guests, as Asian Cycling Championship set to kick off

The 39th Asian Track Cycling Championship set to kick off on April 23 in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). The most prestigious tournament of the continent will be attended by about 800 athletes from 40 countries, who will fight their way for a set of 256 medals. Representatives of the delegations of the participating countries are already arriving in our country.

“Today we have overcome many kilometers and arrived to participate in this tournament. I have been engaged in cycling professionally for about 4 years. For me – this is the first competition of this scale, so I did my best to train hard. My motto – attack, attack and attack again, as well as practice,” - said a member of the Japanese Cycling team Yugi Court in an interview for the Uzreport TV channel.

Athletes from Saudi Arabia, China, Mongolia, Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan and Taipei have arrived in Tashkent so far.

The tournament of such scale and prestige is held in Uzbekistan for the first time. Its importance lies in the fact that it provides an opportunity to obtain licenses for the 2020Tokyo Olympics, and therefore each team comes to Uzbekistan with its best cyclists.
