Uzbekistan Secures Additional 7 Medals at Asian Games

On September 25th, Uzbekistan's athletes secured a total of 7 medals, bringing their overall medal count to 14.

In academic rowing, Shahzod Nurmatov, Shahboz Kholmirzayev, Mehrojbek Mamatkulov, and Sobirjon Safaraliyev participated in the M4x event, clinching the silver medal. The Chinese team claimed gold, while the Indian team took home the bronze.

Navbahor Hamidova (-66 kg), a member of the Uzbekistan national boxing team, made her debut at the Asian Games but unfortunately lost her match to Thai Jangayev Suvannapeng.

Uzbekistan's Olympic football team, led by Timur Kapadze, successfully completed the group stage by winning both matches against Hong Kong in Group C, securing a place in the playoffs. They won today's match 2:1.

In judo, Gulnoza Matniyazova won a bronze medal in the -70 kg weight category by defeating Yu Jung Liao of Chinese Taipei. This marked her second bronze medal at the Asian Games.

However, the start of the Asian Games didn't go well for Uzbekistan's handball teams. The men's team lost 27:31 to Kazakhstan, while the women's team suffered a heavy defeat with a score of 16:42 against South Korea in the first round.

Rio-2016 Olympic champion Hasanboy Dosmatov had a successful start at the Asian Games, winning his match against South Korean Secheong Jo in the second round due to an injury sustained by his opponent from Hasanboy's strong blows.

Gymnastics legend Oksana Chusovitina advanced to the final stage of the Asian Games, competing in the pole vault program. Her two qualifying performances averaged 12.949 points.

In a remarkable debut, Uzbekistan's women's football team, participating in the Asian Games for the first time, achieved a resounding victory by scoring six goals against Mongolia in their opening group stage match.
