Young Uzbek chess player Nodirbek Abdusattorov beats Dutch grandmaster at World Cup

Uzbek Nodirbek Abdusatorov defeated one of the favorites of the FIDE World Cup - the Dutchman Anish Giri.

Abdusatorov, 16, made his first victory at the World Championship among children under-8.

"The Dutchman was forced to win back with black pieces, Giri almost succeeded, but at the crucial moment Nodirbek showed extraordinary composure, and Anish's attempt to win at all costs led him to a second defeat in a row and an extremely disappointing score of 1: 3," comments Chess24.

To date, Abdusattorov occupies 127th place in the international rating table, and his opponent from the Netherlands is the eighth.
