Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to make a joint film on the life of Alisher Navoi and Abdurrahman Jami

A group of cinematographers from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan intend to make a film about prominent figures in poetry Alisher Navoi and Abdurrahman Jami, several media outlets have reported. The premiere of the script has been held in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe.

The concept of the film covering the period of ‘Second Renaissance’ has already been approved by the creative group. According to the Uzbek film director Furkat Usmanov, such a proposal was made that the filmmakers of the two countries should unite and create one such joint big motion picture, which will contribute not only to the advancement of the shared history of the countries and their people but also to the promotion of friendship of the two fraternal peoples. Filming would be held in locations that played a pivotal role in the lives of two poets.

The chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Tajikistan, the screenwriter of the film ‘Jami and Navoi’ Safar Khakdodov stressed that the movie should be filmed based on historical facts.
