Uzbekistan and India ink investment and trade agreements worth $2.3 billion

On 24 August, the first-ever online meeting of the Uzbek-Indian Committee for Coordination and Promotion of the Practical Implementation of Bilateral Agreements was organized. The Committee was co-chaired by Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister F. Arziev, and -State Minister of Foreign Affairs V. Muralidaran, from the Indian side.

The meeting was opened with a welcoming speech of Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov who stressed intensifying implementation of joint projects and further interaction between countries.

The virtual conference participants discussed the projects in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, education and infrastructure development.  98 investment and trade agreements were signed for a total of $ 2.3 billion within the framework of bilateral cooperation.

The government representatives proposed further steps to accelerate the preparation and signing of the Agreement on the Encouragement and Reciprocal Protection of Investments and the Agreement on Preferential Trade.
