Uzbekistan celebrates 28th anniversary of adoption of national flag

Every nation has its own sacred symbols, embodying its honor and pride. The decree on “The national flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted on November 18, 1991. The national flag is a symbol of sovereign nation.

The state flag of our country is rectangular in size with 1 metre wide by  2 metres long. It consists of three horizontally equal stripes and each has different color; blue, white and green. The white stripes(lines) on both ends are covered with red color. There are twelve five-pointed stars in white and the crescent on blue background.

Every color and emblem on the state flag of Uzbekistan has deep symbolic meaning. The blue stripe on the flag is the symbol of the sky, water and peace.  The white line on the cloth is the color of peace and purity, the green stripe represents youth and the extraordinary nature of Uzbekistan. Red lines symbolize blood , running in our blood vessels, recalling us about peace-loving ancestors.
