Uzbekistan to launch production of Nike, Adidas footwear
Production is expected to start in the 4th quarter of 2021, with the annual capacity to comprise 3mn pairs of sport shoes. The company plans to reach full capacity by the 3rd quarter of 2022.
Uzbekistan is about to launch the production of Nike and Adidas footwear, the country`s leather association Uzcharmsanoat said on February 19.
Production is expected to start in the 4th quarter of 2021, with the annual capacity to comprise 3mn pairs of sport shoes. The company plans to reach full capacity by the 3rd quarter of 2022.
The land plot of 1 ha in Asaka district of Andijan region was allocated to SinoInternational for the plant. The equipment was already delivered and installed. The plant started producing local brand sport shoes for children and adolescents since the fourth quarter of 2020, making 40,000 shoes a month.
The foreign investor will spend $12mn FDI for the project with half of the sum already invested.
50% of shoes will be exported to the Central Asian countries, 30% will be exported to other countries. 20% will be sold domestically.
An agreement to launch the production of footwear was signed between SinoInternational and Chinese Tianjin Zhongzhilihua in September 2020.
