Voltalia Secures Agreements for 523 MW Renewable Energy Projects in Uzbekistan

Voltalia has signed agreements with the Uzbekistan government to develop two green energy projects, as reported by Energy Storage News. The documents were signed during the Uzbek-French business forum last week. Both projects, located in Shurkul near Navoi and Sarymay in the Khorezm region, will incorporate energy storage systems.

In Shurkul, Voltalia will implement a hybrid power plant with a total capacity of 400 MW, combining a 200 MW wind farm and a 200 MW solar panel farm. The project will also feature a 60 MW battery system with a total capacity of 240 MWh. The expected commissioning date for this "electric cluster" is 2026, marking it as Central Asia's first facility of this kind.

The second power plant in Sarymay, Khorezm region, was awarded to Voltalia in a 2022 tender at a rate of 2.888 cents per kWh. Initially planned as a 100 MW solar power plant, it has now expanded to 123 MW. Additionally, a protocol has been signed for the construction of a 100 MW wind farm and a battery system.

Voltalia established a presence in Uzbekistan earlier in July, inaugurating an office in Tashkent, attended by the French Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Aurelia Bouchez.
