Global Markets recognizes Jamshid Kuchkarov as Finance Minister of the Year

Finance Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov was s recognized as Minister of Finance of the Year in Central and Eastern Europe (including the CIS), according to Global Markets. The award ceremony was held on October 19 at the National Press Club in Washington as part of the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

On behalf of the Minister, the award was accepted by his Deputy Odilbek Isakov.

According to the Embassy of our country in the USA, the event saw over 120 representatives of foreign delegations.

Global Markets, which is the official edition of the annual meetings of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Asian Development Bank and inter-American development Bank, notes that Jamshid Kuchkarov has been a steady hand on the tiller during what has been one of the most rapid programmes of economic liberalisations in recent memory. After years spent held back by the strictures commonly left behind in former Soviet states, Kuchkarov was trusted by the reformist President Mirziyoyev to manage the liberalization of the currency markets, a lightening of trade restrictions, and the country’s international bond market debut

According to experts of "Global Markets", a very positive element of the current transformations in Uzbekistan is the serious determination of the Government of the Republic to significantly reduce the participation of the state in the national economy through an active privatization policy.
