Mirziyoyev: Today`s Uzbekistan is not as it was yesterday

2021 is set to see an important political event in the life of Uzbekistan and its citizens. The Central Election Commission was tasked to pay particular attention to the organization of the upcoming presidential elections at a high level on the basis of national legislation and generally recognized international democratic principles.

Mirziyoyev said that the work will continue on the implementation of the recommendations of international observers at the last elections.

“I am sure that this important political campaign will demonstrate the steady growth of political and legal culture, the expansion of the worldview and the strengthening of the civic position of voters, all our compatriots in the new Uzbekistan”, said Mirziyoyev.

“I think that our parliament, political parties, non-governmental organizations, our wise older generation and initiative youth will express their views on the priorities set out in today's address”, he added.

According to the president, Uzbekistan has enough natural resources, forces and potential to achieve its goals.

He also named problems and shortcomings, like bureaucracy, corruption, indifference and negligence.

"From this point of view, in the new year, we need to work selflessly, with greater dedication. There may be many more challenges in life ahead of us, and we must be prepared for this", he noted.

“No matter how difficult challenges are, we will not deviate from the path of democratic reforms. We will go forward, only forward. After all, our people are not the same as they were yesterday. Today's Uzbekistan is not as it was yesterday”, Mirziyoyev concluded.
