New rules approved for gas pipeline protection zones
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved rules for safeguarding gas transport system objects. These rules establish criteria for constructing structures near the minimum permitted distance zones of gas transport system objects.
The protection zone of gas transportation system objects is a designated land or water area with specific ownership or use regulations. These zones, determined according to the rules, are registered in the state register with special requirements for these plots. Owners or operating organizations are responsible for safeguarding gas transportation system objects.
Protection zones are defined as follows:
a) Along main gas pipeline routes, a plot of land is designated by lines drawn 50 meters from both sides of the pipelines. In lands of agricultural importance, the distance is 25 meters on both sides.
b) For multi-branch main gas pipelines, the designated plot is bordered by lines drawn along the outermost pipelines.
c) Along underwater passages of main gas pipelines, the water environment between planes located 100 meters from both sides of the underwater network.
Strict compliance with these rules in areas with gas transportation system facilities is mandatory. The Ministry of Energy, along with local governments, will check compliance and take corrective actions for identified violations.
