Tashkent hosts meeting of Foreign Ministers of Central Asian countries and United States

On February 3, Tashkent hosted a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Central Asia and the United States of America in the "C5+1" format.

The Tashkent meeting saw Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Mukhtar Tleuberdi, the Kyrgyz Republic - Chingiz Aidarbekov, the Republic of Tajikistan - Sirojidin Muhriddin, Turkmenistan - Rashid Meredov, the Republic of Uzbekistan – Abdulaziz Kamilov and US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.

Heads of delegations in their speeches noted that the format of Ministerial meetings launched in 2015 in Samarkand has proved to be a popular and effective mechanism for maintaining and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.

High-level contacts within the C5+1 framework have become regular and stable. Practical cooperation is being consistently carried out in topical areas of regional development, including the economy, energy, transport, ecology and security.

The Ministerial meeting also exchanged views on topical regional issues, in particular the situation in Afghanistan.
