Uzbekistan and Britain sign post-Brexit cooperation agreement

On October 31, Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and British Ambassador Timothy Torlot signed an Agreement on partnership and cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The fundamental document that regulates relations with the UK is the current agreement on partnership and cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union signed on 21 June 1996. After the withdrawal of the UK from the European Union ("Brexit"), this Agreement will cease to apply in relations between Uzbekistan and the UK, in connection with which the British side initiated the conclusion of an interstate agreement on partnership and cooperation.

In accordance with the Agreement, the parties will maintain regular political dialogue on all aspects of bilateral cooperation, as well as international and regional issues of mutual interest.

The parties shall grant each other the most favored treatment in respect of customs duties, taxes and other charges of any kind applicable to imported goods.
