Visa Opens Office in Tashkent

Visa has opened an office in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Andrew Torre, President of the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMEA) region, made this announcement during the Visa Central Asia Payment Forum.

"Visa has been active in Central Asia for over 30 years, and we're pleased to announce the opening of our first office in Uzbekistan," said Andrew Torre. He highlighted the substantial growth of digital payments in alignment with the government and Central Bank's cashless economy strategy.

Torre emphasized the pivotal role of digital technologies in shaping the future of money in Central Asia. He anticipates continued collaboration with both public and private sectors to foster economic growth in the region. The establishment of the Tashkent office is expected to enhance support for local financial institutions and businesses, contributing positively to industry development and overall economic growth.

During the forum, experts discussed key factors for advancing digital payments, transforming businesses, and expanding financial transactions across Central Asia.

Visa has been introducing innovative solutions in Uzbekistan, including the "Visa Everywhere Initiative" competition for fintech startups and the "Visa Tap to Phone" initiative in collaboration with MayaSoft startup.
