167 cases of illegal natural gas use identified in 2.5 months
Between December last year, and February 15, 2025, Uzenergoinspeksiya identified 167 cases of illegal natural gas consumption across Uzbekistan. Authorities emphasize that unauthorized gas use not only results in financial losses but also poses serious risks to public safety.
Investigations revealed that 82.16 million cubic meters of gas were illegally used an estimated 210.43 billion soums in damages to state interests. In addition, Hududgaztaminot reported that 6,472 cases of unauthorized gas consumption were uncovered by company inspectors during the same period. As a result, 50.89 million cubic meters of gas were subject to recalculated charges, amounting to 117.3 billion soums in additional costs.
Additionally, 4,942 household gas cylinders containing 36,000 cubic meters of liquefied gas were seized to prevent illegal sales. Officials warn that such violations undermine energy distribution efforts and disrupt supply chains. All documented cases have been officially recorded and forwarded to regulatory authorities for further legal action.
