June 5 is World Environment Day, established by the United Nations on December 15, 1972, and celebrated in more than 100 countries for years. In connection with this date, the "Eco-festival" was held for the first time in the Syrdarya region.
In today's industrialized age, it is difficult to find enterprises that are less harmful to the environment. As part of an event, a press tour was organized for one of these rare enterprises. The plant's total area is about 60 hectares, with 10 hectares dedicated to green zones. Sixty gardeners take care of all the ornamental and fruit trees on the property.
The Department of Ecology in the Syrdarya region constantly monitors the level of toxic substances released by the plant.
As part of the event, the plogging eco-competition "We Are Against Waste" was held. Five teams of media representatives participated, collecting waste from Gulistan Recreation Park. The team of local journalists from Syrdarya won the competition.
This year's theme focused on preserving ecosystems. The main steps towards this goal include the rational use of forests, combating desertification, stopping land degradation and rehabilitating land, and preventing the loss of biological diversity.
