Gishtkuprik border checkpoint shuts down for four months
The Gishtkuprik border checkpoint on the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan border will be closed for renovation starting February 5. The repairs are expected to last four months. During this period, the Navoi customs post is suggested as an alternative crossing point.
Traffic restrictions are being introduced to complete large-scale construction and renovation work. This includes the temporary dismantling of buildings, landscaping, and the development of infrastructure in the surrounding area. According to the statement, starting February 5, 2025, all pedestrian and vehicle traffic passing through the Gishtkuprik border checkpoint will be redirected to the Navoi customs post.
For reference, in January, the Customs Committee announced the test launch of the Navoi customs checkpoint in the Tashkent region. To facilitate movement for citizens and passenger vehicles, truck traffic at the Navoi post will be temporarily restricted.
