New Metro, Tram Line and Smart Traffic Systems for Tashkent

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a candidate for the presidency of Uzbekistan, addressed the voters of Tashkent and shared his plans for transportation improvements. He emphasized the importance of implementing a "safe and smooth road" principle through the digitization of traffic management. To achieve this, his proposals include:

  • Implementing a "smart intersection" and "smart traffic light" management system at all intersections, increasing the total number from 64 to 605.
  • Constructing multi-storey parking lots at five city entrances and around six high-traffic metro stations.
  • Building 12 overpasses on streets with heavy traffic and installing modern parking meters with 3,000 spaces along the roads.

To enhance the convenience of the population, Mirziyoyev announced the construction of a 15-kilometer surface metro or tram line from Dustlik metro station to New Tashkent. This line is projected to accommodate up to 115,000 passengers, providing improved transportation options for residents.
