Uzbek court sentences Gulnara Karimova to 13 years in prison
During the closed trial, the testimony of the defendants, witnesses, victims was heard, the evidence was examined and the arguments of the defense of the defendants were checked.
On March 18, the Tashkent city criminal court announced a prison sentence of up to 13 years and 4 months for Gulnara Karimova, the press service of the Supreme court of Uzbekistan reported.
During the closed trial, the testimony of the defendants, witnesses, victims was heard, the evidence was examined and the arguments of the defense of the defendants were checked.
The court, having thoroughly and fully investigated the materials of the criminal case, found Karimova guilty of organizing a criminal community, extortion, embezzlement by misappropriation, legalization of income derived from criminal activities and other crimes.
Karimova was sentenced to 13 years and 4 months in prison. Based on the norms of criminal law and in accordance with the totality of punishments imposed for several crimes and sentences, the court determined the calculation of this sentence from August 21, 2015.
The remaining defendants were also given appropriate punishments, taking into account the gravity and public danger of their actions, as well as their role in the crimes committed.
