Uzbek passengers detained at Abu Dhabi Airport without explanation

On November 30, 31 citizens of Uzbekistan arriving at Sheikh Zaid International Airport in Abu Dhabi on a Wizz Air flight from Tashkent were not allowed to enter the UAE for unknown reasons. The Uzbek Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai are in contact with airport officials and relevant UAE authorities to manage the situation.

They stated that measures are being taken to provide the passengers with three meals a day and medical assistance if needed. One passenger told Gazeta.uz that while 31 people, including women, children, and the elderly, were released, men aged 20 to 40 were detained and may be deported. None of the passengers were given an explanation for these actions. “After we landed, they took us away at passport control and confiscated our passports for no reason,” he said. The travelers had various reasons for visiting the UAE, including tourism, business meetings, and family visits.
