Uzbekistan provides all secondary schools with eight types of musical instruments
The Minister of Culture and the Minister of Preschool and School Education met with music teachers to discuss improving the country's music education system, as directed by the head of state. They focused on granting qualification categories to music teachers, supporting their professional development, and organizing “Iktidor” amateur art groups in schools.
According to data, 21% of school music teachers have only secondary specialized education, and some cannot play musical instruments. To reform the system, graduates of cultural institutes will no longer be accepted as teachers. The knowledge and professional skills of music teachers will be assessed, and a system for advanced training will be introduced. Based on the success of the “Turon School Theater,” amateur art groups called “Iktidor” will be established in schools. All secondary schools will be equipped with eight types of musical instruments. The event also addressed ways to motivate music teachers.
Music and art schools in the regions are now part of general education schools as base schools, where regular auditions will be held to discover talented students.
As mentioned during the meeting, music educates the heart and helps children develop an aesthetic sense and memory, positively influencing their learning in other subjects.
