Uzbekistan receives its first Russian vaccine

Denis Manturov, Minister of industry and trade of the Russian Federation, personally delivered samples of the Covid-19 Sputnik V vaccine to Tashkent, the ministry's press service reports.

First deputy head of the sanitary and epidemiological welfare and public health service received the valuable cargo.

"The samples were transferred to the Uzbek side for conducting trials necessary for registration and launch of industrial production of the vaccine on the territory of Uzbekistan," the website says.

According to the ministry, agreements on the production of the Sputnik V vaccine have been concluded with companies from India, Brazil, China, South Korea and four other countries. Negotiations are underway with major international organizations and institutions.

Russia says trials have shown that its Sputnik V vaccine is 95% effective against fighting COVID-19.

Around 40,000 volunteers in Russia attended large-scale clinical trials.
