WIUT hosts 5th international conference on education and linguistics

Westminster International University in Tashkent is hosting the 5th International Conference on Education and Linguistics for two days. This year’s conference highlights the importance of research and innovation in improving language education. The theme also shows the goal of the conference: “Redefining Language Education through Research and Innovation: Emerging Trends in Applied Linguistics and Teaching Practice”.

In today's globalized world, connecting education and research is crucial for developing teaching methods that meet international standards. Research provides insights for improving instructional strategies and implementing both online and offline learning models. It also fosters students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills through research opportunities.

The Rector of WIUT notes that Uzbekistan has prioritized education reform through its ambitious "Uzbekistan - 2030" national development strategy. This conference directly supports the goals outlined in the strategy. Discussions at ICEL 2024 on the latest approaches and concepts in applied linguistics and teaching will aid in updating education standards and strengthening the relationship between research and education. This aligns with the strategy's vision of transforming education through research and innovation to meet international benchmarks by 2030. By facilitating these important discussions among leaders in the field, the conference helps Uzbekistan progress towards the education objectives laid out in its long-term development roadmap. This year’s conference will bring together more than 300 educators, researchers, academics, and education leaders from over 16 countries to discuss how research can enhance teaching practices and create engaging learning environments for students.

ICEL 2024 aims to stimulate productive dialogue on advancing language education across Central Asia. Participants will share knowledge and ideas to inform current practices. The conference is a space for WIUT and other institutions to support innovative, comprehensive approaches to education. Through talks on current issues, it will offer new perspectives to serve 21st-century learners.
