Uzbek League Cup tournament resumes from 2022 football season

A meeting of the newly elected Executive Committee of the UzPFL was held
On March 31, of this year, the newly elected Executive Committee of the UzPFL held a meeting where members approved restarting the League Cup, which was last held in the 2019 season.
"It's no secret that the Asian Football Confederation has drawn up a complicated schedule for the 2022 season. The Confederation, which had to postpone a number of competitions due to the pandemic of previous years, is now trying to organize them again.
The Football Association of Uzbekistan has also decided to host the U-23 Asian Championship. In addition, the qualifiers for the Asian Cup will be held in Uzbekistan. A number of players from the Olympic club, which is a member of the Super League, will be involved in the continental championship.
As a result, Super League and Pro League clubs have big breaks during the same football months. We do not have the opportunity to organize internal competitions in the first 15 days of June. The hot weather in July also poses another problem. In addition, the Uzbek Olympic team, which forms the basis of the Olympic players, is scheduled to participate in the Asian Games in China in September. FIFA days are connected to this.
Based on the above, the Executive Committee of the UzPFL has decided that it is necessary to resume the League Cup. We will also try to involve teams from neighboring republics in this competition. In the end, we form the competition format based on the exact number of participants. We will keep the football community informed of the tournament and another related news step by step, ”the PFL said in a statement.
Previously, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan were also invited to the tournament in 2020, but the tournament was canceled due to a pandemic.
