Uzbekistan hosts CONFEAS 2024 International exchange conference

Samarkand hosted the ConFEAS 2024 international conference on "Market infrastructure and the role of intermediaries in the economy" for the first time. Over 200 delegates from prominent foreign commodity, stock, and currency exchanges, IT companies, international financial and consulting organizations, from more than 20 countries, attended the event. The conference included six panel discussions covering the current situation and future plans of the Uzbek Commodity Exchange. 

The conference aimed to discuss current trends and future prospects in the global stock market industry, focusing on the importance of oversight and innovation in stock trading, as well as the challenges and opportunities in modern capital markets. In his opening speech, Chairman of the board of UzEx Ziyoviddin Badriddinov, highlighted that this first international exchange forum in Uzbekistan serves as a valuable platform for sharing expertise among industry leaders and fostering collaboration between exchanges.

- Over the past 6 years, Uzbekistan's gross domestic product has grown by 50%. Going forward until 2030, efforts will focus on doubling this figure. This will be primarily achieved through reforming the green economy, improving infrastructure, adopting new IT solutions, promoting the private sector, and increasing foreign direct investments.

During the forum's panel discussions, topics including the architecture of financial market infrastructures, market regulation issues, and alternative exchange tools and technologies were extensively discussed. Representatives from the Uzbek Commodity Exchange presented on topics like "Instruments, Technologies, and Synergies beyond Capital Markets" and "ESG Management and Investor Relations”.

- The representatives of UzEx actively participated in panel discussions at the forum, presenting information about the Commodity Exchange of Uzbekistan. They highlighted the main achievements and future plans of the exchange over its 30-year history.

 Leaders of international organizations, foreign companies, and stock exchanges, along with other participants of the international stock exchange forum, greatly appreciated the achieved results in economic reforms, particularly within the stock exchanges.

During the conference, the management of the Republic Commodity Exchange of Uzbekistan engaged in discussions with international brokerage firms, software providers, and other prominent international experts.

- The agreements with foreign partners are primarily for mutual consultations and sharing experiences regarding the introduction of new stock trading tools.

The Republic Commodity Exchange of Uzbekistan is one of the largest commodity exchanges in the CIS countries. Its annual turnover equals 15% of Uzbekistan's GDP. Besides organizing stock exchanges, UZEX manages state procurement and carries out successful large-scale e-commerce projects. This makes the Uzbek stock exchange unique in the global stock exchange industry.
