Uzbekistan`s FDI inflow dip to $624mn

The net inflow of foreign direct investment in Uzbekistan in 2018 amounted to $624 million, which is 3 times less than in 2017. According to the Central Bank, this decrease in the inflow of investments is due to the increase in the volume of repatriation of investments, which amounted to $1 billion in 2018 ($524 million in 2017). Significant amounts of funds in 2017 were sent by foreign investors for construction and installation works in order to organize the extraction of mineral resources.

Reinvestment of income by foreign investors in 2018 amounted to $693 million, which is $ 217 million more than in 2017. Moreover, the volume of net portfolio investments of foreign investors increased from $3 million in 2017 to $13 million in 2018.
