WB: remittances to Uzbekistan to decline slightly this year

According to a World Bank’s report, the volume of transnational transfers in European and Central Asian countries at the end of this year is projected at $78 billion. The figure decreased by 1.4%, compared to the same period last year.

According to the WB forecast, Uzbekistan will be the main beneficiary of cross-border transfers in the region. Experts estimate their amount at $16.1 billion, or $0.6 billion less than the record volume recorded last year.

Analysts expect that the flow of remittances in the region will continue to gradually decline. In 2024, it will be 1.2% lower, including due to the return of remittances from Russia to the average annual figures and a reduction in the withdrawal of money by re-locants.
