Gold and foreign currency reserves reach $39.15 bln
As of September, Uzbekistan's gold and foreign currency reserves reached almost $40 billion. In August, the value of international assets increased by $1.75 billion. This is one of the highest levels recorded since 2018. The main reason for this increase is the growth in gold reserves, which set a new record at $30.39 billion.
Meanwhile, the net volume of reserves decreased by 0.1 million troy ounces, or 4.1 tons, to 12 million troy ounces, equivalent to 373.2 tons. The price on the global markets exceeded $2,550 per ounce but then slightly declined. The volume of assets in freely convertible currency slightly increased, reaching $8.19 billion at the end of August.
The volume of cash currency in the Central Bank's foreign accounts increased by $502.9 million, reaching $8.15 billion. $408.3 million is held with other central banks and the International Monetary Fund, while the remaining $7.74 billion is stored with other foreign financial institutions.
Additionally, the value of securities purchased by the Central Bank slightly increased, making up $35.5 million.
