Uzbekistan Implements Customs Duty Exemptions
According to a presidential decree effective from March 1, 2024, to March 1, 2026, certain goods not produced in Uzbekistan are exempted from customs duties for entrepreneurs importing them. These include equipment, machinery, raw materials, components, spare parts, furniture, inventories, construction materials, and other items essential for hotels, accommodation facilities, trade, and entertainment complexes.
Additionally, specific exemptions apply to equipment like turnstiles, payment-information terminals, video surveillance systems, new energy-saving systems, and special water purification filters for swimming pools. Materials, equipment, and technologies required for organizing jewelry and gold product retail stores in tourism centers are also included.
For flights to Muynak and Zomin airports, air passenger tickets for individuals under 23, recipients of age pensions and allowances, and persons with disabilities are sold at a 50 percent preferential rate. The expenses incurred by passenger transport companies for providing these benefits are covered from the budget.
In the sale of state assets for hotel and tourism services, it is permissible to pay purchase fees in installments over up to 5 years, irrespective of the amount. Furthermore, assets not sold for more than 3 months may have their initial payment reduced by up to 30% to facilitate their sale at the residual value if needed.
