Uzbekistan Boosts Economic Ties with Afghanistan
Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister, Jamshid Khodjayev, led a delegation to Kabul, Afghanistan. They met with Afghanistan's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, and ministers from both countries. The Afghan Deputy Prime Minister thanked Uzbekistan for aid to earthquake-affected families in Herat and highlighted the importance of transportation in economic growth.
Both countries have untapped economic potential, aiming to significantly boost their trade. Uzbekistan's new visa system for Afghan investors, business representatives, and truck drivers was appreciated. Baradar welcomed Uzbekistan's "Made in Uzbekistan" product exhibition and shared Uzbekistan's plan to triple trade to $3 billion. Uzbekistan expressed willingness to engage in Afghanistan's major infrastructure projects, support training, and host an Afghan product exhibition.
During the visit, a business forum at the Kabul International Exhibition Center involved over 300 local business representatives. Agreements totaling $1.185 billion in export/import contracts were secured. The exhibition of Uzbekistan's products piqued significant interest, fostering dialogues between Uzbek and Afghan business representatives.
