3 & 5-grade students across Uzbekistan to be tested for maths and reading skills

The U.S. Agency for International Development jointly with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Public Education is now administering the National Early Grade Reading and Early Grade Mathematics Assessments aimed at evaluating students’ basic literacy and numeracy skills.

The program would cover over 11 thousand pupils across 937 public schools across the republic. According to the US Ambassador to Uzbekistan, the data collected will help the Ministry and its partners make better, evidence-based decisions on how to advance students’ academic performance.

To date, USA-ID has administered the EGRA and EGMA in over 40 countries and the data collected has helped countries worldwide improve the foundational reading and math skills of their students.
