New Regulations to Ensure Safe Drinking Water Delivery in Uzbekistan
A draft document on approving rules for delivering drinking water in transport has been published in Uzbekistan. According to the document, 10 percent of the population, which is 3.6 million people, is supplied with drinking water through transport. However, there are issues with unregulated delivery and sale of drinking water via transport, leading to concerns about quality, sources, and adherence to standards.
To address this, Chapter 10 of the Law on "Drinking Water Supply and Wastewater Release," effective since October 24, 2022, outlines requirements for water delivery in transport. This decision aims to regulate all aspects of water supply in transport, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to standards. The adoption of these regulations is expected to guarantee safe and high-quality drinking water delivery, provide opportunities for regulated business activities, and improve service for over 3 million people reliant on transported water.
