Railway Stations Open for Entrepreneurs in Public-Private Partnership
On October 10 of this year, the President of Uzbekistan issued a decree to reform the railway sector. As part of this, "Railway Stations" LLC was established under "Uztemiryulyulovchi" JSC to operate stations. Tashkent-Central, Samarkand, and Kokand stations, along with their vacant spaces, will be leased to entrepreneurs through public-private partnerships by "Uzbekistan Railways" JSC from November.
Entrepreneurs now have the opportunity to rent and develop businesses at these stations. Tashkent-Central offers 4,000 sq. km for entrepreneurs to set up offices, hotels, stores, service stations, and shopping centers through a private partnership.
The Cabinet of Ministers will assess businessman proposals for renting vacant areas at railway stations. The selected places will be leased through the "E-auction" platform. This move aims to digitize business processes, implement modern management methods, and maximize the transit potential of the republic in the railway sector.
