Tashkent Faces Alarming Air Pollution

The atmosphere in Tashkent is at a concerning level. In Uzbekistan, 51% of the total population now resides in urban areas, reaching 18 million. The rise in both population and vehicles is contributing to the degradation of the natural environment in cities.

Uzhydromet's observations reveal air pollution levels with small dust particles (RM 2.5) in Tashkent at 9:00-10:00:

- In Yunusabad district, on "Bodomzor" road, it measures 56 μg/m3.

- In the People's Friendship Square of Chilonzor district, it records 59 μg/m3.

These areas are classified as having "unhealthy" air pollution based on the AQI - RM 2.5 indicator.
