Uzbekistan braces for occasional cold spells despite labeled “Warm Winter”
There were some information stating that this year Uzbekistan experiences “warm winter”. According to the head of "Uzhydromet" department, a warm winter doesn't mean the same temperature every day for 90 days. Cold currents from the north may briefly bring colder conditions. Even though it's called a warm winter, people should still prepare for cold weather.
Currently, daytime temperatures can reach 20 degrees, and at night it doesn't drop to 0 or -1 degrees, but it can still get as cold as -5 degrees during winter.
The expert emphasizes that the term "warm" doesn't imply a constant high temperature. As he mentioned, winter is still winter, and occasional cold periods are expected. The ability to predict weather conditions accurately is around 90 percent, but preparation is crucial. In the past 20 years, winters labeled as warm still had snow and temperatures dropping below 0 degrees. Therefore, it's essential to be ready for winter conditions despite the overall description of a warm winter.
In simple terms, if summer is considered cool at +25 degrees, a warm winter might be around +5 or +10 degrees. The representative from "Uzhydromet" advises people not to assume that a warm winter means no need for winter preparations.
