Uzbekistan Expands Public Transportation with 1137 New Buses and 58 Routes
In 2023, Uzbekistan introduced 1137 passenger buses on various routes. The plan includes establishing 56 new passenger transportation routes this year. Up to now, 22 buses and 36 taxi routes have been initiated, totaling 58 new routes.
From January to July 2023, approximately 7,285.1 million soums were allocated from the local budget to subsidize unprofitable suburban and intra-regional intercity bus routes.
Additionally, 2,777.3 million soums were provided as subsidies for compensating damages resulting from free transportation for specific citizen categories on city routes and losses due to limited tariffs in city passenger transport.
As of August 1, 2023, contracts for 110 bus routes have been officially established.
