Uzbekistan launches fund for pharmaceutical startup investments
President signed a decree aimed at advancing the pharmaceutical sector. According to the document, the Pharmaceutical Agency will be responsible for overseeing the development of dietary supplements and cosmetic product manufacturing in Uzbekistan.
The Pharmaceutical Development Agency will oversee investment projects in regional pharmaceutical enterprises, digitalize the sector, and implement online systems. It is also tasked with localizing and expanding the production of biologically active supplements (BAS) and cosmetics while integrating global standards.
By year-end, the Center for Pharmaceutical Safety’s laboratory must undergo WHO prequalification. By July 1, five model plantations for medicinal plants must be established, with processing enterprises launching by 2026.
An investment fund will support pharmaceutical projects, while a separate fund will finance biopharmaceutical, cellular technology, and oncology startups. The state institution Pharm Service will provide industry consultations and marketing support.
