Uzbekistan sends humanitarian aid to Turkey

The Uzbek government has sent a humanitarian cargo to Turkey to help fight the coronavirus.

A cargo plane of Uzbekistan Airways delivered a shipment of one million disposable medical masks of local production Ecos N95 to Istanbul on May 2.

Turkey started to enforce a full lockdown as of Thursday evening, Apr. 29, to stem the spread of coronavirus.

On Monday, speaking to reporters following a three-hour Cabinet meeting in the capital Ankara, Recep Tayyip Erdogan had said all workplaces will suspend their activities or shift to work-from-home models during the restrictions, except those excluded by the Interior Ministry such as food and manufacturing sectors.

As of today at 7:00 pm local time, the new measures and restrictions entered into force.

The new measures will cover the entire holy Muslim month of Ramadan, as well as three days of the Eid festival, and will end May 17 at 5:00 am.
