Uzhydromet on severe air pollution in Tashkent

Tashkent entered the TOP 3 anti-rating cities with the dirtiest air in the world according to the air quality control company IQAir. The concentration of PM 2.5 pollutants in the air in Tashkent exceeded the WHO annual regulatory value by more than 35 times. "The number of nitrogen oxides as a result of traffic increased by 0.2-0.3 times from the permissible standards. This indicator does not have a negative impact on human health," -Uzhydromet.

Uzhydromet reports that an inversion of temperature formed in the lower layer of atmospheric air which led to the prevention of vertical air movements. As a result, the concentration of fine (PM 2.5) pollutants increased. "At the moment, the air temperature is rising, fog and drizzle are receding, and air pollution with fine particles is decreasing," the report says.

Uzhydromet also noted that the state of atmospheric air pollution with harmful pollutants (CO, SO2, NH3, dust) did not exceed the permissible regulatory amounts.
